Doris Bunn, age 87, of Brooklyn, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Brooklyn Community Estates.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home in Brooklyn. Burial will follow at Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held at the Michael J. Manatt Community Center in Brooklyn following the burial.

Doris was born on December 24, 1938, to Charles Edward and Doris Ann (Martin) Rhodes. She attended BGM High School and graduated with the Class of 1957.
On August 10, 1958, Doris married William Korns, and together they were blessed with four children: Sherry, Janice, Charles, and Angie. They later divorced. On October 5, 1973, Doris married John Bunn, and they welcomed a son, John Daniel.
For many years, Doris devoted herself to raising her children at home. As her family grew older, she entered the workforce, first working at local restaurants as a waitress and cook. She later served as a bookkeeper for Robert Wagner's Appliance Store and Collum Electric.
Doris enjoyed sewing, crocheting, bowling, reading, playing cards, and watching NASCAR races. She was also an avid fan of the television shows Survivor and Big Brother.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sherry Korns-Johnson of Brooklyn, Iowa, Angie (Joel) Bayer of Victor, Iowa, and John Daniel (Kelly) Bunn of Sumner, Iowa; her sister, Billie Jo Henry; her grandchildren, Blain (Jenny) Kupka, Brettney Korns, Calvin (Ericka) Korns, Amanda Johnson, William Bayer, Owen Bayer, Benjamin Bunn, Eli Bunn, Gabe Bunn, Summer (Dustin) Palmer, and Josh Niles; and her great-grandchildren, Silas Boyer, Delaney Kupka, Prudence Korns, and Brecken Kupka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Doris Rhodes; her husband, John Bunn; her children, Janice Korns and Charles Korns; her granddaughter, Jenny Korns; her son-in-law, Steve Johnson; her siblings, Don Rhodes, Edna Werenburg, and Joyce Van Renterghem; and one niece Renee Frisby.
