She was born on December 31, 1924, in Ladora, Iowa, to Ernest and Emma Fiester Shaull. She was raised in Ladora and graduated from Ladora High School in 1942. On September 7, 1952, she was married to John Sims in Iowa City. The couple lived in Ladora, where she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ladora United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a mission committee member. She was also a founder of the youth church choir of the church. She is survived by her husband, John Sims of Ladora; her son, Bob Sims of Ladora; two grandchildren, Jeremy Johnson of Ladora and Haylee Rief of Conroy; four great grandchildren, Emilee, Morgan, MacKenzie and Breigan Rief; two brothers, Wayne Shaull and Ernest (Spud) Shaull both of Ladora; two sisters, Maxine Tranberry of Blairstown and Katherine George of Fairfax. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Linda Ann; one sister, Lucille Feller; and three brothers, Gerald (Gus) Shaull, Edwin Dale (Jake) Shaull and Harlan (Gump) Shaull.
