Obituary

Donna Cox, 67, of Newton, died on June 16, 2018, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. A graveside service and burial has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23rd at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom with Pastor David McDowell officiating. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Donna Cox Memorial Fund. A reception will follow immediately after the service at the Grinnell Eagles Club, 616 4th Avenue. Donna was born on January 16, 1951, in Grinnell, the daughter of Harold U. and Mable Marie Tuttle Spading. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1969 graduate of Grinnell High School. On May 21, 1969, she was united in marriage with Richard William Cox, Sr. and they were the parents of two children, Nikki Beyer and Bill Cox. The couple lived in the Grinnell and Kellogg area. They were later divorced. Donna was employed as a seamstress at DeLong's Sportswear for many years and later she moved to Des Moines and was employed with Nationwide Insurance. She moved to Newton in 2006. Donna was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and loved her cat, Zuzu. She enjoyed her quiet time while at home. Survivors include her two children, Nikki Beyer of Lynnville and Richard "Bill" Cox, Jr. of Newton; eleven grandchildren, Kelsea, Christopher, Kaeli, Kenrick, Jorden, Jacob, Briley, Nick, Abby, Dixie and Zoie; one great-grandchild, Oliver; two sisters, Arlene Lamb of Malcom and Viola Anclaux of North English; two brothers, Bruce Hodgson of Montezuma and Marlin Hodgson of Mississippi; and one sister-in-law, Patricia Hodgson of Montezuma. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Kenny Hodgson.
