Donald Cornell Brown, age 85, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the Mayflower Healthcare Center in Grinnell. Don was born on March 27, 1935 to Blanche Cornell and Robert H. Brown, Jr. in Tallahassee, FL, where he spent his childhood. He was married to Susan Mann in 1958; they later divorced. A graduate of Georgia Tech and Stanford University, Don was proud of his service as a carrier pilot in the US Navy from 1957-1962, and his subsequent work for the Central Intelligence Agency. After early retirement in 1982, he was self-employed building homes, and making custom cabinets and handcrafted furniture. Surviving Don are his brothers, Charles J. Brown of North Carolina and Robert H. Brown III of Florida; his children, Allen (Kristin) Brown of Barker, NY; Duncan Brown (Miriam Sierig) of Mundelein, IL; and Barbara Brown (David Lopatto), of Grinnell, IA; as well as grandchildren Justin and Parker Brown; and Patrick, Eleanor, Edward, and Billy Lopatto.
