Don was born on April 24, 1935, in Mendota, Illinois to Walter and Pauline Bowers Bradley. The family moved to Ames, Iowa in 1940 and he attended Ames Public Schools. Don graduated from Ames Senior High School with the Class of 1953. He attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa for five semesters, where he received his degree in Journalism in 1955.
Don was united in marriage to Sherry Dahlberg Young in July of 1964. The couple resided in Ames much of their lives together. Don moved to Grinnell, Iowa in 1975 and began his broadcasting career at the local radio station KGRN. His passion was broadcasting and he was "the voice" delivering the news to his listeners in the communities of east central Iowa.
Don is survived by his son, David Bradley of Ames, Iowa; three grandchildren, Andrew Bradley of Des Moines, Tera Klimkewics of Beaverton, Michigan, and Caitlin Bradley of Nevada, Iowa; two great grandchildren; and his sister, Karen Morden of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
