Following high school, he enlisted in the Army and honorably served during the Vietnam War.
Don studied theology at Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, ID where he received his Bachelors. He went on to receive his Masters at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. They spent over a decade pastoring and serving on the mission field before returning to the states, where Don worked as Computer Security Analyst for State Farm. After retiring in 2017, Don and Paula moved to Grinnell to be closer to family.
Don was a man of faith; spreading the word of God was his life's work. He was an ordained pastor and member of the Nazarene Church. He extended his ministry outside of the church through his missionary trips to Guam, Zambia, and Malawi. He thoroughly enjoyed his men's Bible Study Fellowship in Illinois.
Don will be remembered for his faithful, loving, and caring personality. He was a vocal L.A. Dodgers fan and enjoyed music, golfing, traveling, and reading.
