Obituary

Diane Lee Henle Davidson was born on July 11, 1944, and raised on a rural farm in Poweshiek County. Her parents were George and Marjorie (Kriegel) Henle. Diane passed away on January 17, 2026, at the Comfort House in Pella, IA.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn, IA. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service in the church hall. A graveside service at Calvary Cemetery in Brooklyn will follow the luncheon at 1:00 pm.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home in Brooklyn.

Memorials may be designated to Essence of Life Hospice, mailed in c/o Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.

Diane attended the Madison #3 Country School through 8th grade and graduated from BGM High School in 1962. On February 18, 1967, Diane was united in marriage to Keith Albert Davidson at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Diane and Keith farmed north of Brooklyn for 32 years, until Keith passed away on July 23, 1999.

In 2000 Diane moved into Brooklyn. She was a member of St, Patrick Catholic Church. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. She belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, DCCW, St. Patrick's Scholarship Foundation Board, as well as taught Sunday school, served on the Parish Council, and was a Liturgical and Eucharistic Minister. After 3-years of classes, she was commissioned by the Bishop to be a Lay Liturgical Minister. She also sang in the church and community choirs.

After graduation she worked as a waitress, then worked for 8-years in the accounting department at the General Telephone Company in Grinnell. She was also an elementary teacher's aide at BGM, worked at the ASCS office in Malcom, and at the daycare center in Grinnell. Diane took pride in being on the ground level planning of the Community of Flags Display and Flag Store where she volunteered, made and sold crafts, was the bookkeeper and managed the store for many years. Other organizations she belonged to were TTT, Chamber of Commerce, Farm Bureau, Road River Club, New Idea Club, and helped with 4-H and Cub Scouts.

Diane's first love was her family. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, sewing, photography, reading, putting together puzzles, bird watching, traveling, and most especially dancing.

Surviving are her three children: Chris (LaFonda) Davidson of Pella, Brian (Angie) Davidson of Washington, and Lisa (Jason) Junk of Independence; her grandchildren Brendan and Lily Davidson of Pella, and Clinton, Clara and Case Junk of Independence, her mother-in-law Lillian Davidson of Brooklyn, her brothers David (Carol) Henle of Council Bluffs, Duane (Judy) Henle of Fairbanks and Dale (Chung) of Baltimore Maryland, her sister-in-law, Joann Henle, of Toledo, along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Keith, her parents George and Marjorie Henle; father-in-law Horace Davidson, brother Mike Henle, sister Judy (Charles) Calderwood, and brother-in-law, Mark Davidson.
