Diana Long, 71, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center in Grinnell. A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Memorials may be designated to the Mayflower Community Human Needs Fund and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with Diana's family online at www.smithfh.com. Diana Lynn Long was born the daughter of Maynard and Marilyn (Lincoln) Long on May 5, 1949 in Grinnell, Iowa. She was raised in Grinnell and Cary, Illinois, respectively. She graduated from Cary Grove High School with the class of 1967. Following her education, she worked in her parent's retail and children's clothing store in Cary. She moved with her parents to Florida in 1987 and she was employed at Wynn Dixie and K-Mart. Following the death of her mother, she and her father moved back to live at the Mayflower Community in Grinnell. Diana enjoyed life and built many friendships with the residents and staff at the Mayflower Community. She was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball and Chicago Bears football fan. She loved watching old movies on TV. She will be remembered for her generosity, her kindness and compassion, her strong faith, and for her loving heart. Diana is survived by her brother, Craig Long of Santa Monica, CA; aunts, Beverly Anderson, and Sharon Oliver, both of Grinnell; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
