Dennis Robert Weaver, 75, of Gilman, IA passed away peacefully on December 1, 2022, at UnityPoint Hospital in Grinnell, IA.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

Dennis was born on March 3, 1947, in Grinnell, IA to Arthur and Helen (Rinnan) Weaver. Dennis was one of eight children raised on the family farm in Gilman, IA. He graduated from SEMCO High School with the class of 1965.

On August 6, 1971, Dennis was united in marriage to Paula Stewart at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. To this union, they had two children, Jacie and Todd. Dennis was a lifelong farmer, continuing his father's legacy.

Farming was his world. It is what he knew. It was his profession. He ate, slept and drank farming and what he could make of it. Dennis was also known for his passion for fishing, westerns, and his muscle cars. He enjoyed playing golf and attending local car shows. Denny's routine included many years of coffee at Newburg Elevator, Gilman Elevator, Tom's Tire, and his mother Helen's home. He will be remembered for being witty, and for teasing and joking with his family and friends. He was a rock – with a big heart. He was always there – for everyone.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Paula Weaver; his children, Jacie (Todd) Collum and Todd (Stephanie) Weaver; his grandchildren, Tom (Olivia) Collum, Brian (Kala) Collum, Mary Collum, Maggie Collum, Jane Collum, Cody Weaver and Rylan Weaver; his great grandchild, Harrison Collum; his siblings, Steve (Mary) Weaver, Carol Anderson (Joe Peterson), John (Dona) Weaver, Don Weaver, Chis (Jay) Gaunt, Carla Weaver and Connie (Bob) Kellogg; his sister in laws Janine (Kim) Muckler and Lee Ann (Paul) Ainley.

He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Helen Weaver.
