Dennis Anderson, 89, of Grinnell, died on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Windsor Manor in Grinnell.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm on Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home and his family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

N. Dennis Anderson was born on March 27,1932 in Alexandria, MN. He grew up on the family farm near Evansville, MN, that his Swedish immigrant Grandfather had purchased in the late 1800's. He graduated from Evansville High School in 1950. He worked on the farm for several years before entering the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1964.
He married Darlene Otten in Milaca, MN in 1965. No children were born to this union. Dennis' career consisted of being employed by the Cargill Corporation. He and Darlene moved to Grinnell in 1969. He became plant manager at the Cargill plant in 1980 and he held that position until the plant closed in 1989. He then worked as a hail adjustor for Grinnell Mutual for several years. After retirement, he and Darlene enjoyed several winters in Rockport, TX.
Darlene passed away in January of 2016, after 50 years of marriage. In November of 2016, Dennis and Joy Weeks were united in marriage. They enjoyed several years together at the Mayflower Community in Grinnell.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Joy Anderson of Grinnell and her daughter, Katie (Kevin) Cook of St. Louis, MO; nephew, Mark Bucholz of Rapid City, SD; niece, Karen Bucholz of Lead, SD; and grandniece, Summer Scott, and her children, Zakira and Kingston of Rapid City, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude Engstrom Anderson and Joseph Anderson; wife, Darlene; nephew, Jon Bucholz; brother-in-law, A. Mark Bucholz; and sister, Lois Bucholz.
