Delores was born on November 4, 1934, in Sheridan Township, Poweshiek County, Iowa to Charles and Bernice Haynes Mayo. She was raised on the family farm and attended rural Sheridan Township school. Following her graduation from Grinnell High School, she received a BA degree in Education from William Penn College in Oskaloosa. She also received a Masters degree from Drake University in Des Moines.
In August of 1955, she was married to Fred Weaver Jr. at the Sheridan Methodist Church near Grinnell. The couple farmed in Chester Township. Following their divorce, she lived in Grinnell and she taught elementary education in the North Mahaska School District for 28 years.
She was a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Organization and the Iowa State Education Association.
Survivors include her children, Mary Whitehead of rural Kellogg, Jim Weaver of Mitchellville, Mark Weaver of rural Grinnell and Diane Maas of Toledo; her adopted daughter, Sandi Testa of rural Kellogg; her companion, Ernie Wilcox of Montezuma; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and four brothers, Donald Mayo of Stephenville, Texas, Paul Mayo of Fort Worth, Texas, Robert Mayo of Rhome, Texas and Roger Mayo of Edwardville, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bernice Mayo.
