Delores Oliver, 75, of Grinnell, died on Friday, May 21, 2021 at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell with Rev. John Epperson officiating. Memorials may be designated to the St. Francis Manor Foundation to support nurse's education, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with Delores' family online at www.smithfh.com. Delores Kay Oliver was born on January 12, 1945 in Grinnell, Iowa to Walter and Margaret (Anderson) Oliver. She was raised and educated in Grinnell. Delores served as a volunteer at the Grinnell Senior Center for many years. She was very artistic, and she enjoyed painting and drawing. Her other enjoyments were helping others, crocheting, and attending family picnics and gatherings. She will be remembered for always putting others needs ahead of hers, for being "quietly ornery," and for her pinches. Delores is survived by her uncle, Wilbur (Beverly M.) Anderson of Grinnell; aunts, Martha Anderson and Ada Anderson, both of Newton, IA, and Beverly K. Anderson of Grinnell; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Beverly Claussen; her maternal grandparents, Clark and Aretha Anderson; her paternal grandparents, Willie and Isabel Oliver; her uncles; William, Robert, Harold, Everett and Edgar Anderson and Denvil Oliver; her aunts, Lucille and Alice Anderson and Doris Oliver: and her brother-in-law, Richard Claussen.
