Della Mae Graham was born on February 20, 1917, to Robert E. and Addie Naomi Reavis Pierce in Madison, South Dakota. She moved to Grinnell as a young girl and attended Grinnell schools.
Mae was united in marriage to Elmer G. Graham on November 26, 1938 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. In 1942, Elmer and Mae moved to Snohomish, Washington. She traveled with Elmer during his painting profession. Mae moved to Buckley, Washington in 1972 and then to Grinnell in February 1989.
She loved to do word find puzzles and was always busy twittling her thumbs, but doing nothing. Mae enjoyed her peppermint candies and was a chocolate lover. She was an avid baseball fan, especially the Cardinals and always enjoyed being around children.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Copper Powers of Buckley, Washington; granddaughter, Victoria Edwards of Auburn, Washington; three great grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Dunnick and her sister-in-law, Pat Pierce, both of Grinnell, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer in 1976, and her siblings, Jesse Pierce, Edith Claussen, Raymond Pierce, James Pierce and Patricia Barron.
