Obituary

Deirdre Triplett, age 31, of Grinnell, died on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2015, in the Grinnell Middle School gymnasium with Pastor Brian Chitwood officiating. Interment will be in Westfield Cemetery near Grinnell. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be designated to the Deirdre M. Triplett Memorial Fund, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Deirdre Marie (Himes) Triplett was born the daughter of Larry Lee Himes and Barbara Kay (Fisher) Himes on July 13, 1983, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. She was raised in Melroy, Pennsylvania until the family moved to Grinnell in 1992. She graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 2002. She was united in marriage to Nathan Paul Triplett on May 29, 2010, at Diamond Lake near Montezuma, Iowa. They were blessed with a son, Jaden and two daughters, Natalie and Leah. Deidre was employed at the Pine Cone Restaurant near Victor, Iowa, Diamond Life Care Center in Montezuma, Grinnell Steakhouse and most recently was the head cook at Grinnell Middle School. Deirdre's family was her life. She loved the outdoors and everything it offered from deer hunting with her husband to taking her kids swimming. She was an avid gardener and canned the food grown from her garden. Her enjoyments were cooking, camping, hunting, fishing, and attending 4H activities. She will be remembered for her fun loving personality, infectious smile that could brighten anyone's day, and for the way in which she touched the lives of the many people blessed to know and work with her. Deirdre's memory will be cherished by her husband, Nathan Triplett of Grinnell; her children, Jaden, Natalie and Leah; her mother, Barbara Fisher of Bussey, Iowa; and two sisters, Chrys (Albert) Bregar of Bussey and Leslie Himes of Iowa City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Himes on August 17, 1990.
