Obituary

David was born on September 23, 1933, in Brooklyn, Iowa, to Raymond and Blanche Regner Creps. He was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn High School with the Class of 1951. In 1952, he entered the United States Navy and served on the USS Shangri La during the Korean Conflict. On December 18, 1960, he was married to Evelyn Fifer in Brooklyn. The couple farmed near Brooklyn and moved to Grinnell in 1966. He worked as a welder from 1966 to 1996 at the Donaldson Company in Grinnell. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Grinnell, the Brooklyn American Legion, and the United Auto Worker's Union. He had also served on the Board of Directors of the Poweshiek County Home Health Service and the Grinnell Veterans Ceremonial Unit. Survivors include his son and daughter-n-law, Richard and Denise Creps of Grinnell; his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jim Brennan of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two grandchildren, Ryan and Tosha Creps; one brother, Earl Creps of Malcom; and his companion, Carolyn Ball of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one son, Daniel Creps; and two brothers, Ralph Creps and Paul Paynter. Memorials may be directed to the Brooklyn American Legion, the First Presbyterian Church of Grinnell or to the Poweshiek County Home Health Service.
