David Lee Seaton was born on April 7, 1946 in Marengo, Iowa to Charles and Doris (Reinhart)

Seaton. He was raised in Victor, along with his brother and sister, Dennis & Judy. He graduated

in 1964 from H-L-V High School and participated in their music program and golf team. Dave

played clarinet and was one of their top golfers. He was an excellent student and was selected to

participate in summer courses offered by the National Science Foundation. He attended the

University of Iowa on a National Merit Scholarship.

Dave returned to Victor in the late 1960s to help his parents in the family grocery business,

Seaton's Jack & Jill, while refining his entrepreneurial and savvy business skills. He

successfully owned and operated businesses in the Victor, Ladora and Brooklyn communities,

such as grocery and convenience stores, fertilizer business, deli and catering business, real estate

properties, and renovating/flipping houses. Further, Dave was instrumental in the start of the

Victor's Junior Chamber of Commerce charter and was a volunteer fireman in Victor.

Dave had many hobbies and passions, which included his contagious laugh, and fun with

friendly competition. He enjoyed fishing and card playing at an early age with his family; taking

annual family trips to Minnesota. He was a food enthusiast and would enjoy popcorn and a beer

every now and then. He was an amazing storyteller and his listeners would often double over

from laughing so hard. He used his entrepreneurial spirit in search of bargains and would often

fill his high mileage truck to the top when attending auctions.

Dave's work and passions were always grounded in the person his family, friends, employees

and customers came to know. Dave was respectful, caring, courteous, and kind hearted. He

loved his family and encouraged them to work hard and take the time to enjoy life. He treated

people the way he wanted to be treated and was willing to help and support others to be their

best. He was a special man and touched so many lives.

Dave is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mary Jo Seaton of Malcom; two daughters from his

first marriage, Meg (Mark) Frideres of Nevada, IA and Amanda Seaton of Des Moines, IA; as

well as children Paul (Lynsey) Chalupsky of Brooklyn, IA and Amy Chalupsky (Alex) Tagtow

of Waterloo, IA; grandchildren, Elliot, Nicholas and Lillian Frideres; Isabelle Austin and Paul C.

Chalupsky; Jameson, Avery and Kendall Tagtow; and his siblings, Judy (Dick) Florer of

Fremont, NE and Dennis Seaton of Dubuque, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and

sister-in-law, Rae Seaton.
