Danielle was born on December 27, 1942, in Chaumont, France to Benjamin and Janine Henry Mitchell. She was raised in Grinnell, Iowa, and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1961. She also attended the Thompson Beauty School in Des Moines.
On September 26, 1964, she was married to Terry Gross in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell, where she worked as a beautician at the Vogue and later owned and operated Styles by Danielle.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell and she enjoyed knitting, fishing, playing cards and activities with her granddaughter.
Survivors include her husband, Terry Gross of Grinnell; three sons, Michael Gross of Grinnell, Christopher Gross of West Des Moines and Mitchell (Melanie) Gross of Coralville; one granddaughter, Zola Janine Gross of Coralville; and two sisters, Benita (Mike) Fouts of Urbandale and Michele (Mike) Bales of Indianola. She was preceded in death by her parents.
