Daniel "Ray" Henely, 76, of Grinnell died April 5, 2016, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
A memorial mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16th, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ayrshire, Iowa with the Rev. Currans, pastor of the church, officiating. Pianist will be Suzanne Rouse and soloist will be Howard Hilde.
A private burial will be held at a later date at the Ayrshire Cemetery.

Ray was born June 3, 1939, in West Bend, Iowa, one of 18 children of John Lee and Gladys Cox Henely. He was raised in the Ayrshire area and was a 1958 graduate of Ayrshire High School. Following high school, he began a career that spanned 30 plus years with GTE.
He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard.
On October 30, 1962, he was united in marriage with Judy Rost, in Hartley, Iowa. The couple lived in Hartley, Emmetsburg and later Grinnell. After his retirement from GTE in the late 1980's, he worked for Schoon Construction in Grinnell.
Ray enjoyed camping, fishing and working outdoors. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan and was proud to have earned his private pilot's license.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Grinnell; three daughters, Sandy (Steve) Brock of Storm Lake, Becky (Steve) Thorkelson of Minnetonka, Minnesota and Danielle (Howard) Henely of Woodbury, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Ryan Brock of Orange County, California and Endre Thorkelson of Minnetonka, Minnesota; five brothers, Paul Henely of Elm Mott, Texas, Bernard (Sharon) Henely of Estero, Florida, Joe Henely of West Bend, David (Kathy) Henely of Chariton, and Perry (Jane) Henely of Lake City, five sisters, Devonna Trimble of Ruthven, Carol (Leo) Wigen of Spencer, Linda (Rick) Larson of Branson, Missouri, Virginia (Harry) Origer of Mallard and Debbie Theesfeld of Ayrshire; two sister-in-law's, Janet Henely of Sioux Rapids and Cheri Henely of Spencer; one brother-in-law, Gail Egeland of Estherville; and his aunt, Phyllis Aschenbrenner of Laurens. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Cory Brock; four brothers, Kenny, John, Dale and Don Henely and three sisters, Diane Wickman, Jean Egeland and Marilyn Schultz.
