Corinne was born on March 16, 1916, in Peru, Indiana, to John and Bertha Whittenberger Dice. She was raised in Monticello, Indiana and graduated with the Class of 1933 from Monticello High School. On June 3, 1934, she was married to Henry L. Switzer in Frankfort, Indiana. The couple operated the Monticello Floral Company from 1934 to 1940. In 1940, the family moved to Iowa Falls and owned and operated Switzer's Flowers. They moved to Grinnell in 1955 and purchased Larsen's Motel and in 1963 they built the Motel Grinnell-Best Western south of Grinnell on Interstate 80. They also operated the Hickory Room Restaurant and the Silhouette Restaurant in Grinnell. Corinne was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Grinnell. She enjoyed playing golf, cards, travel, entertaining and playing the piano. Survivors include her three grandchildren, Corrine Switzer of Urbandale, Jay Switzer of Wilmette, Illinois and Laurie Pitzer of Houston, Texas; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Jerry L. Switzer and Phillip T. Switzer; and her parents.
