Connie Janene Thompson, 68, of Gilman and formerly of Grinnell died on January 8, 2021, at her home of natural causes. Due to Covid-19, a service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be designated to the family of Connie Thompson. Connie was born on July 30, 1952, in Clinton, Iowa; she is the daughter of Warren G. and Marie Stone Fogel. She was raised in the Grinnell area and was a 1970 graduate of Grinnell High School. She was employed at DeLong's Sportswear in Grinnell for 15 years and then as an administrative assistant at Meskwaki Casino in Tama for nearly 20 years. She knew the value of hard work. Connie loved her family and truly enjoyed the company of her grandchildren; they were her joy! She enjoyed her home, cooking and baking, and solving crossword puzzles. She held a love and passion for animals. Connie is survived by her two children, Kris (Jeff Pierce) Watts of Chariton and Darrin (Melanie) Thompson of Fort Dodge; three grandchildren, George (Courtney) Briese, Brennan (Valerie) Thompson, and Thailen (Morgen) Thompson; two great-grandchildren, Athena and Axel Briese, with another due in August; and one sister, Marla (Boyd) Francis of Brooklyn. She was preceded in death by her parents.
