Charles William “Charlie” Goodrich, 65, of Malcom, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Charlie was born on June 27, 1961, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Charles Roger and Margaret Mary (Kaufman) Goodrich. He graduated from Brooklyn-Guernsey-Malcom High School with the Class of 1979. He attended the School of Business at Iowa Lakes Community College as part of the Class of 1980. He later graduated from Indian Hills Community College with the Class of 1992, where he studied heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems, and related mechanical trades.

On December 27, 1986, Charlie was united in marriage to Christina Ellis in Montezuma, Iowa. Four sons were born to this union: Justin, Matthew, Zach, and Charlie. Their marriage later ended in divorce.

Throughout his life, Charlie worked in a variety of industries. He spent time working in the Oklahoma oil fields, drove truck on and off for many years, worked at Farmhand in Grinnell, and at the Malcom Co-op. Following his technical education, Charlie worked as an appliance, heating, cooling, and electrical service technician in Brooklyn, Iowa, before establishing his own business, Country Appliance Service. He later returned to the trucking industry for several years and worked as an independent contractor delivering newspapers for the Des Moines Register. He subsequently worked in building and plant maintenance for a business in Grinnell before returning to self-employment.

Charlie is survived by his four sons: Justin (Bethany) Goodrich of Ladora, Iowa, and their daughters, Emery and Macie; Matthew (Kaelyn) Goodrich of Brooklyn, Iowa, and their daughter, Ivy; Zach Goodrich of Brooklyn, Iowa; and Charlie Goodrich of Brooklyn, Iowa.

He is also survived by his siblings: Bert Goodrich of Iowa City, Iowa; Peter (Sue) Goodrich of Malcom, Iowa; David Goodrich of Tama, Iowa; Susan (Murlin) McCain of Malcom, Iowa; Sally (Archie) Kuntz of Brooklyn, Iowa; Sandy (Jay) Wacha of Ozark, Missouri; Sharon (Joe) Schott of Brooklyn, Iowa; Dale (Ann) Goodrich of Montezuma, Iowa; Joe (Tracey) Goodrich of Greene, Iowa; and Sheila Campbell of Grinnell, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Roger and Margaret Mary (Kaufman) Goodrich.
