Carol Joan Krull was born on July 15, 1937, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, to John "Jack" Herbert Krull and Minnie Ruth (Liverca) Krull. She was raised near Britt, Iowa, where she attended country school and graduated from Britt High School with the Class of 1955. She went on to study at the Evangelical School of Nursing in Marshalltown and graduated in 1958 as a registered nurse.

On June 19, 1959, Carol was united in marriage to Marvin Stone at Prairie Center Methodist Church near Britt. The couple began their life together in Fayetteville, North Carolina, while Marvin served in the U.S. Army. They were blessed with two children, Morgan and Monica.

Following Marvin's active-duty service, they returned to Iowa and lived in several communities including Woden, Britt, State Center, and Steamboat Rock before settling in Grinnell in 1977. Carol devoted her life to nursing and cared for countless people throughout her career. She touched many lives while working in hospitals, public health, and medical clinics. She served as a nurse in the Grinnell-Newburg School District from 1978 to 1999 and also worked at the Mayflower Community in Grinnell. Even in retirement, she remained active by volunteering at Grinnell Regional Medical Center and local schools, and she enjoyed her years living at Seeland Park in Grinnell.

Carol was known for her gracious spirit, genuine heart, and kind nature. She unconditionally loved and cared for her husband, children, and grandchildren, as well as her seven siblings and their families. She had a love for socializing and meeting new people. She enjoyed bowling, reading, playing cards with her friends and grandchildren, baking cookies, dancing with Marvin to country music, and collecting earrings.

Carol is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marvin Stone, of Grinnell; her son, Morgan (Greta Anderson) Stone of Ames, IA; her daughter, Monica (David) Tibben of Stuart, IA, and their two sons, John and Jared; her siblings, Gene Krull of Brooklyn Park, MN, Sharon Drake of Ames, IA, Dennis "Butch" Krull of Ankeny, IA, Donna Ennis of Eagle Grove, IA, and Janet (Steve) Drake of Ankeny; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Larry Krull; and her sister, Linda Bennett.
