Carol Peters, age 84 of Grinnell, died on Monday, January 25, 2021 at St. Francis Manor with her family by her side and under the care of Care Initiatives Hospice.
A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Carol was born September 5, 1936 in Marshalltown, the daughter of Everett and Elizabeth (Davis) Emmert. She grew up and lived most of her life on the family farm southeast of Grinnell. She attended Grant No 5 School and graduated from Grinnell High School. After graduation she worked for Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids.
On December 28, 1956, she was united in marriage to Roger Alan Peters at the Grinnell First Friends Church. The couple lived on and farmed the family farm where Carol grew up, and there they raised three children. Carol also worked at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company while the children were growing up, eventually retiring from the company. She later returned to work part time at GMRC following retirement. In 2006 the couple moved to town and in 2017 moved to Seeland Park. They enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and Texas.
Carol was active in 4H during her youth and later served as a program leader. She enjoyed life on the farm, gardening, knitting, crocheting, card club, listening to country music, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Rick (Lesa) Peters of Grinnell; two daughters, Kristi (Travis) Hammond of Haslet, TX and Kelly (Jess) Podrazo of Murdock, NE; 7 grandchildren, Erica (Kenny) Hoth of Grinnell, Andy (Kara) Peters of Sharon Springs, KS, Mike Peters of Grinnell, Whitney (CJ) Green of Fort Worth, TX, Emily Hammond of Haslet, TX, Louie and Lizzie Podrazo of Murdock, NE; 5 great grandchildren, Alex, Brenden, and Christian Hoth, Riley Peters, Audrey Gray; 4 step grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; and sisters, Marilyn Iverson and Alice Kriegel.
