Bob Falck, 82, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell with Pastor Daniel Rinehart officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Interment will be held at 4:00 pm at Union Cemetery near Aurora, IA. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 9:30 am. Robert Clair Falck was born on September 21, 1939, to Otto Leonard Falck and Ethel Geraldine (Hesner) Falck in Oelwein, IA. They lived on a farm nine miles east of Oelwein and he was the youngest of five boys and one younger sister. He graduated from Stanley High School in Stanley, IA in 1957. He attended the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in Cedar Falls, IA and then transferred to Upper Iowa University in Fayette, IA, where he graduated from in 1963. Bob was united in marriage to Sandra Jondine Lunn on October 16, 1964 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Grinnell, IA. Bob began working for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company after graduating from college and he worked there for 34 years. He purchased an insurance agency in Arlington, IA from 1966 – 1970, and then returned back to work at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance. Bob was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church and he was very active in the church. Church and his faith were very important to him. During his illness, he mentioned that he was "ready to go." Bob was very athletic and enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and biking. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan since 1951. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. His greatest love was his family. Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandy Falck of Grinnell; two sons, Christopher Falck of Grinnell and Kurt (Missy) Falck of Des Moines, IA; step-grandson, Rob; sister, Marcia (Dave) Haier of Algonquin, IL; and good friends who were like family, Jeff Wells and Kun Lu and their children, Sofia and Lily. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bill, Jerry, John, and Jim Falck.
