A celebration of life service for Blake Allen Vosburg, 44, of Grinnell, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational. A reception will follow from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Periodic Table, Hotel Grinnell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Grinnell Area Mental Health Consortium-JPK and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112. Blake was born on February 28, 1981, in Grinnell, Iowa to Bill and Pam (Darnell) Vosburg. He was raised in Grinnell, graduating from Grinnell High School in 1999. Blake was baptized and confirmed at the Grinnell United Church of Christ-Congregational. During high school he was active in both sports and band, attaining All-State honors in percussion.
Blake began his post-secondary education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. In 2003, he transferred to the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Summa Cum Laude, in 2005. He subsequently received his M.S. degree in Engineering Management from the University of Kansas in 2008. Blake began his engineering career with The Larkin Group, later working for HNTB and Burns and McDonnell. He was licensed as a Professional Engineer in the state of Kansas in 2010.
Blake returned to his hometown of Grinnell in 2012. Always up for learning new things, he discovered his interest in product distribution and held management positions at Brownells Inc. and K & M Tire. In 2020, he began working at Grinnell Firestone as Business Manager. He enjoyed interacting with local clientele to assist with their vehicle needs. His honesty and dedication earned the trust of many in Grinnell.
Blake's greatest source of love and pride were his four children, Madison Vosburg (21), Ames, Iowa, Emma Vosburg (15) and Sophia Vosburg (15), Shawnee, Kansas, and Boden Janson-Vosburg (1), Grinnell.
Blake loved his Iowa State Cyclones and made every effort to attend any games when possible. He was overjoyed when Madison chose Iowa State as her college to attend.
Blake is remembered for his kindness to and camaraderie with those he encountered. He was considered one of the good guys, a loyal friend who was always ready to lend a hand.
Blake is survived by his four children, his mother, Pam Vosburg, Grinnell; his siblings, Allison Vosburg (Tanner Van Roekel), Grinnell, Joanna Vosburg (Rick Riley), Denver, Colorado, and Nate Vosburg, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; his nephew, Brooks Vosburg, Grinnell; his maternal grandmother Nadine Cracraft, Grinnell; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Vosburg (2018), his paternal grandparents, Keith (2008) and Wilma (2021) Vosburg, and his maternal grandfather, John Darnell, (1984).
