Beverly Mae (Kriegel) Welter, 84, of Ottosen, and formerly of Grinnell, died Sunday, September 22, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Home in Algona. Visitation with the family present will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5th, one hour prior to the service, at the Sheridan United Methodist Church. A graveside service and burial is scheduled for 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 5th, at the Sheridan Cemetery, northeast of Grinnell. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Beverly M. Welter Memorial Fund. Bev was born on March 3, 1935, the daughter of Raymond and Ella Mohrfeld Kriegel, on the family farm in Sheridan Township, near Grinnell. She was raised in the area and was a 1953 graduate of Grinnell High School. While in high school she was active in 4-H and enjoyed sewing. After her graduation she started her career at G.T.E in Grinnell and in 1962, she moved to Marshalltown and worked at Marshall Print. She spent the majority of her career at Lennox, where she began as a switchboard operator and progressed to Industrial Engineering. On June 14, 1973, she was united in marriage with Chuck Welter. She continued working with Lennox until her retirement in 1975. She then moved to Ottosen to begin farming. After moving to the farm, she enjoyed her animals, especially her bull, "Dum-Dum" and her goat, Daisy. She looked forward to having all her grandchildren spend the summers at their home. Bev is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Dave) Wagner of Callender, Iowa; her grandchildren, Kelly Craig and Mallory Boge, of Fort Dodge, and Ryan Craig of Ottosen; her great-grandchildren, James, Johnny, Alexia, Mae, Jackson, and Carter; and two siblings, Deane Kriegel and Joyce (Ron) Hauser of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Ella and her husband, Chuck.
