Beverly Joanne Dimit, 86, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center under the care of Grinnell Regional Hospice. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 12, from 9:30am-10:30am, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, July 12, at 10:30am, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Memorials may be designated to the St. Francis Manor or Unity Point Hospice, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112 Beverly was born on June 1, 1933, in Grinnell, the daughter of Ralph and Irene (Murphy) Larsen. Beverly attended school in Grinnell and graduated high school in 1951. Beverly was united in marriage to Gerald Dimit on June 28, 1951 in Newton, Iowa, and to this union there were 3 children. The couple later divorced. Beverly was a member of the Methodist Church in Grinnell. She enjoyed family vacations, getting together with friends for bridge and POETS and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Beverly is survived by her children, Cheryl (Daniel) Grove of Ishpeming, Michigan, Dana Dimit of Minneapolis, Minnesota, David Dimit (Robin Skalsky) of Sacramento, California; 2 grandchildren, Megan (Corey) Wilhelm of Flower Mound, Texas, Heather (Jason) Rosenberger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 6 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Larsen, her mother, Irene Larsen, her sister, Velda Rutherford and brother-in-law, Robert Rutherford.
