Betty Carolyn Parker, 74, of Centerville and formerly of Grinnell died on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. A public visitation will be held from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. A graveside service will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery. Betty was born on October 16, 1946, the daughter of Elmer Ezell Parker and Ima Faye Parker. She graduated from Nettleton High School in Nettleton, Mississippi with the class of 1965. Following graduation Betty was united in marriage to George Michael Sisk and to this union they had one daughter, Angelia Lane Collum. Betty moved to Grinnell in 1975 where she raised her daughter. She later met her long-time companion Chancie Fitzwater and moved to Centerville. Betty always did her best for her family and cherished her role as a grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed attending garage sales and flea markets where she looked for toys for her great grandchildren. Seeing their smiling faces when they received one of her gifts made it all worthwhile. Betty will be remembered as a loving and caring person. Betty is survived by her daughter, Angelia (David) Collum of Grinnell; grandkids, Bruce Collum and Tia (Jeremy) Grove; two great-grandchildren, Malia and Kasen Grove; her long-time partner, Chancie Fitzwater of Centerville, IA; and her siblings Alice Allen of West Branch, Iowa, Jean Taylor, Nell Whitten, Bonnie Capps, Wayne Parker, Adrian Parker, and Dale Parker all of Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her parents and three siblings Bill Parker, Zelon Parker, and Paulette Bennett.
