Betty Josephine Kimm was born on June 27, 1935, to Ralph B. and Laura A. Stowe Fisher in Lander, Wyoming. She graduated in 1953 from Blairstown High School in Blairstown, Iowa. On December 22, 1954, she married Kenneth K. Kimm at the EUB Church in Blairstown. They later divorced.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Betty had a strong work ethic. She had a passion for the outdoors, animals, her garden, canning and especially kayaking. Her greatest love was her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would also help the farmer north of Guernsey with bailing and herding of the loose animals.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved yellow lab, Buddy; her five children, Richard Kimm of Cedar Rapids, Alan Kimm of Cedar Rapids, Chris (Faye) Kimm of Blairstown, Laurie (Kevin) Knox of Grinnell and Jerry (Lisa) Kimm of Blairstown; nine grandchildren, Michael Kimm, Chrystal Kimm, Nicole Kimm, Nick Mitchell, Kristi Mitchell, Ben Mitchell, Ashley Kimm, Melissa Kimm and Brooke Kimm; three great grandchildren, Vironica Mitchell, Alex Mitchell and Keely Kimm; and one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Fisher of Blairstown and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Richard, R. Dewayne and Donald Fisher.
Memorials may be directed to the Betty J. Kimm Memorial Fund to benefit massage therapy for residents at St. Francis Manor.
