Barbara Jean Hanssen, 90, of Grinnell died February 6, 2021, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10th, at the Grinnell United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at a later date at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom.
The service will be "live-streamed" and viewers can go to the Grinnell United Methodist Facebook page beginning at 1:50 p.m.
The public is welcomed for visitation with the Hanssen family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
Facemasks are required and social distancing observed.

Barbara was born October 19, 1930, in Grinnell, the daughter of Jessie (Thorp) Reeves and Ransom Reeves. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1949 graduate of Grinnell High School.
On August 6, 1950, she was united in marriage to LaVerne Hanssen in Grinnell. The couple lived in Florida and later Colorado while LaVerne served in the United States Air Force. They returned to Grinnell and farmed with LaVerne's family near Malcom. In 1959, they opened Hanssen Studio in Grinnell and worked together until they sold the business in 1992 to Cory and Barb Hall.
Barbara loved to travel and she had the opportunity to visit many different countries. She loved her family and friends dearly. She moved to Seeland Park in 2006 and enjoyed the social activities and gatherings. She was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church; she and her sister, Marjory volunteered in the church office.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Lynnda (Mark) Risting; her grandson's, Christopher (Ashley) Risting and Jonathan (Allie) Risting; her sister, Marjory Kaloupek; and her great-grandchildren, Aeryn, Zion, Amara, and twin's Archie and Nash. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LaVerne in 2006; her sister, Geraldine Johnson; three brothers, Richard "Dick" Reeves, Charles "Chuck" Reeves, and Robert "Bobby" Reeves, in infancy; two brothers-in-law, Robert Kaloupek and Warren Johnson; and one sister-in-law, Sibyl Reeves.
