Barbara H. (Triplett) Gilliland, 82 of New Sharon, IA passed away peacefully on February 18, 2022, at the Serenity House of Hospice in Oskaloosa, IA with her daughter Gina by her side. A funeral service has been scheduled for 10:30 am, Thursday, February 24, 2022 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. A visitation will be held 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Memories and condolences may be shared with Barbara's family online at www.smithfh.com. Barbara was born April 17, 1939 in Long Pine, NE to Luellen and Faye (Smith) Triplett. On September 14, 1957 she was married to the late Raymond Wright. To this marriage five children were born: Mary Kooistra of Minnesota, Demaris "Happy" (Paul) Hawkins of Montezuma, IA, Edwina "Sissy" Doty of Tennessee, Regina (Steve) Van Zee of New Sharon, IA, and Jason (Rebecca) Wright of Victor, IA. Barbara lost her husband Raymond in December 1975. On April 22, 1978, Barb was united in marriage to the love of her life, Hugh "Bud" Gilliland and to this marriage she gained 3 of his children: Debra (Rick) Morrison of Brooklyn, IA, Rick (Lisa) Gilliland of Florida, Susan Vanscoyoc of Victor. Barbara lost her husband Bud on February 19, 1991. Barbara was preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters, 2 husbands, a grandson, and many friends. Barbara is solely missed by many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends that were like family to her, nieces, and a few nephews.
