Audrey was born on July 4, 1902, in Brooklyn, Iowa, to Walter and Edith Adams Niswander. She was raised on the family farm, attended rural school, and graduated from Brooklyn High School. She also received normal training and taught in a rural school near Brooklyn. While living in Brooklyn she was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and she taught Sunday school.
She was married to Albert Kriegel and the couple farmed near Brooklyn. She later moved to Grinnell and was married to Clifford McCain. While living in Grinnell she worked for the Iowa Telephone Company and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her son, Robert Kriegel of Grinnell; four grandchildren; and one great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962; her parents; one son, Marvin Kriegel, who died on 1960; and one sister, Thelma Johnson, who died in 1999.
A memorial fund in her name will be established and sent in care of Robert Kriegel, 808 East Street, Grinnell, Iowa 50112.
