Obituary

Arthur B. Wells, 90, of Grinnell died on March 21, 2020, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A private family only graveside service and burial has been planned at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell with Rev. Dave Crow, pastor at Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin, Devin, Sean and Shamus Wells, Kevin Kincaid, and Tim Keigan. Honorary bearers will be Tammy Keigan, Tricia Kincaid, Tia Heishman, Taylor, Katy, Mattia, and Erin Wells. Memorial contributions may be designated to Grinnell Regional Hospice. Art was born on September 26, 1929, in Grinnell, the son of Bert Fredrick and Verna Coop Wells. He was raised in Grinnell and was a 1946 graduate of Grinnell High School. On November 6, 1949, he was united in marriage with Twyla Kathlyn Barker, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. A union of 70 years! Art farmed for 23 years and also was employed at Donaldson's for 23 years and with Sieck Electric for 6 years. He retired in 1995. Art was a member of the Grinnell Elks Lodge, the Grinnell Eagles Club, and was a 4-H Leader. He enjoyed attending swap meets and flea markets and watching sports on TV; he was a fan of both the Iowa State Cyclones and Iowa Hawks. He enjoyed socializing and playing cards with friends and family and he loved dancing and going to dances with Twyla! Most importantly was his love for his family and attending many of his grandchildren's activities. Art is survived by his wife, Twyla of Grinnell, his three sons, Reg (Mary) Wells of Grinnell, Blaine (Robyn Berardo) Wells of Grinnell, and Brent (Teresa) Wells of Malcom; eight grandchildren, Tammy Keigan, Tricia Kincaid, Justin, Devin, and Sean Wells; Tia Heishman, Shamus Wells, and Taylor Wells; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his adopted brother, Harold Wells; and a brother and sister-in-law, Stan and Lorene Barker.
