Arthur Timm, 93, of Victor died July 26, 2008, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Victor with the Rev. David McCain officiating. Organist will be Marna Mohr. Pallbearers will be Greg DeBrower, Michael Vest, Seth York, Brian Mathes, Gary Lee Timm, and Jennifer Timm. Honorary bearers will be Michael Wentland, Carla Kelling, Carma Artzer, Cindy DeBrower, Chad, David, Stephanie, and Michelle Timm, Chariti Steuhm, Josh York, Bobi Jo Maus, Kay Lynn Metz, and Scott and Tom Mathes. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor and where the family will be present from 5:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening. The son of Ernest and Anna Meyer Timm, he was born September 19, 1914, on the family farm near Guernsey. He was a 1933 graduate of Guernsey High School. On April 12, 1937, he was married to Margaret Irene Grier, in Rock Island, Illinois and the couple made their home on a farm south of Victor. While farming he was also employed with Amana Refrigeration from 1950 until 1973. In 1980, the couple moved to Victor and Arthur worked for several local contractors. Most recently he was a resident at Brooklyn Community Estates. Arthur was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada, camping, tending to his flower and vegetable gardens, and playing cards with neighbors and friends. He also enjoyed bird-watching, attending the Iowa State Fair, listening to Big Band music, and dancing to Polka. Survivors include six children, Colene Kent and Marlene (Bill) Mathes, both of Tama, Dixie (Mike) Wentland of Hartwick, Gary (Johnette) Timm of Guernsey, Margaret (Royce) York of Montour, and Dan Timm of Victor; one sister, Agnes Morrison of Malcom; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret in 1996; one granddaughter, Shelly Rene Timm; one son-in-law, Robert Kent; six brothers, Theodore, Forrest, Albert, Raymond, Ernest, Jr., and Fred Timm; and four sisters, Marie Baethke, Emma Doty, Martha Horn, and Florence Ranfield.
