He was born on May 22, 1927, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Clifford and Zelpha Mae Smith Crews. He was raised in Searsboro and Lynnville, where he graduated from Lynnville High School with the Class of 1945. He served with the United States Air Force in the Philippines from 1945 to 1947. On February 11, 1951, he was married to Louise Gause in Lynnville, Iowa. The couple lived in Centerville, Cherokee and Clinton, where he worked for J.C. Penney and as a sales representative. In 1953, the family moved to Grinnell and he owned and operated the Farm and Home Store for 35 years. Following his retirement the couple moved to Seeland Park in Grinnell. While living in Lynnville he was a member of the Lynnville Friends Church and was involved in various organizations and activities. After moving to Grinnell he became a member of the Grinnell Christian Church and enjoyed volunteering at Grinnell Regional Medical Center and St. Francis Manor. He loved working in his garden, caring for his flowers and hosta. He is survived by his wife, Louise Crews of Grinnell; one daughter, Stacey L. Lisk of Des Moines; and one son, Bradley A. Crews of New Port Richey, Florida; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
