Amanda (Sundquist) Ray, 30, of Montezuma, died on Saturday, April 4, 2026 near Montezuma.

A private family service will be held at the Smith Funeral Home and Crematory in Grinnell. Burial will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA.

Amanda Ray Sundquist was born the daughter of Christopher Sundquist on December 29, 1995 in Walla Walla, Washington. She was raised in Renton, Washington and attended Lindbergh High School.

Amanda was united in marriage to Jacob Lee Ray on December 16, 2019 at Fort Riley near Junction, Kansas. Amanda devoted her life to her family as a homemaker, finding her greatest joy in caring for and raising her five children.

She had a love for music of all kinds and enjoyed capturing moments through selfies. Amanda will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit—she was funny, spontaneous, and full of love. Her caring nature and ability to bring smiles to those around her left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Above all, Amanda cherished her family. The time they spent together meant everything to her, and those moments will be held close in the hearts of those she loved.

Amanda is survived by her father and bonus mom, Chris (Jessica) Sundquist of Des Moines, IA; her husband, Jacob Ray of Montezuma; her children, Oliver and Theodore Gilbert, and Addilynn, Sylas, and Loralei Ray; her siblings, Jesse, Zachary, Skyler, and Mason Sundquist, and Barrett Bunch; and her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
