Alice M. Williamson, 85, of Belle Plaine and formerly of Hartwick, died on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at the Mayflower Health Care Center in Grinnell. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor, with Rev. Al Wagoner officiating. Music will be provided by Pam Cronbaugh and Teri Neuhaus. Interment will be at the Hartwick Cemetery. Alice was born on December 8, 1926, in Keswick, Iowa to Edward and Julia Van Vooren Kochuyt. She was raised on the family farm near Victor and attended the Hartford #1 School. On August 26, 1948, she was married to Everett Williamson in Victor. The couple farmed and made their home in the Hartwick community for 60 years. Following their retirement they moved to Belle Plaine. The farm was a way of life Alice loved, providing her the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and gardening. She had worked as a switchboard operator, a clerk at Schrim's Variety and Seaton's Grocery in Victor. She also did wallpapering for others in the community. Alice was active in women's fellowship, Country Hospice volunteer, Iowa County Cancer Board, and Iowa County Heartland Quilters. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, sewing, quilting and people. She often shared the results of her love for quilting and crocheting with others. She was a member of the Hartwick Congregational Church. She later attended the First Congregational Church in Belle Plaine. Alice is survived by her brother-in-law, Donald (Elaine) Williamson of Atkins, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Kochuyt of Brooklyn, Irene Criswell of Newton and Linda Davis of Victor; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Everett in 2009, and her siblings, Alois, Charlie, Albert, Francis, Camiel and an infant brother and sister.
