Addie was born on February 26, 1919, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Dana and Ruth Beeler McDowell. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School.
On April 5, 1947, she was married to Hollis H. Elliott in Marengo. The couple lived in the Grinnell area, where they operated a farm in Jasper County. She also worked as an administrative assistant at the Miracle Recreation Company.
She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her four sons, Laird Deppe of Kellogg, IA, Charles Deppe of Jewell, IA, Gerald L. Deppe of Texas and Richard Elliott of Kellogg, IA; two daughters, Vicki Henderson and Virginia Hall, both of Montezuma, IA; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Virgil and Dana McDowell; and two sisters, Mildred Wilson and Edith Dhondt.
