Adam J. Healey, age 32, of Cedar Rapids, and formerly of Victor, died on Thursday, September 1, 2016, near Palo, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2016, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor with Fr. Corey Close presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Victor. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Victor American Legion and his family will be present to greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Adam J. Adam Joseph Healey was born the son of Edward Joseph Healey and Rebecca Ann (Butler) Healey on May 19, 1984, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. He was raised in Jacksonville, Florida until the 5th grade, when the family moved to Victor. He graduated from HLV High School in Victor with the class of 2004. He attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids and received his AA degree in Fire Science. In 2007, Adam began working as a guard and a member of the CERT team at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center (Oakdale Prison) in Coralville, Iowa. Adam was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping. He was a big fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and enjoyed going to football games at Kinnick Stadium. He attended the Big Ten Iowa vs. Michigan State championship football game in Indianapolis, Indiana last year. He also loved traveling to Chicago, St. Louis and Kansas City to watch Major League Baseball games. His other passion was watching NASCAR races and his favorite driver was Denny Hamlin. Adam will be remembered for his fun-loving personality, his infectious smile and laugh, his generosity in helping others, and for the love he had for family and friends. Adam is survived by his father, Ed Healey of Victor; mother, Becky Sheppard of Brunswick, Georgia; two brothers, Andrew (Kate) Healey of Orlando, Florida and Ryan (Jenna) Healey of Groton, Connecticut; his dog, Bowser; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Brooke Healey; paternal grandparents, Harry and Lucille Healey; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Doris Butler; aunt, Wendy Butler; and uncle, Ken Butler.
