Adam Robert Cookson, 37, of Grinnell and formerly of Cedar Rapids died on January 24, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, of natural causes. Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date yet to be determined. Memorial contributions may be designated to the family of Adam Cookson and sent in c/o Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Adam was born of December 28, 1983, in Cedar Rapids, the son of John Cookson and Diane Story Cookson. He was raised in Cedar Rapids and attend Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School. For much of his working career, Adam was employed in the fast-food business in the Cedar Rapids area. He moved to Grinnell in 2017. Adam enjoyed watching NBA basketball, NFL football, and W.W.E.; and playing computer games. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bulls. He is survived by mother, Diane of Cedar Rapids; his father, John of Grinnell; his grandmother, Thelma Story of Grinnell; two brothers, Nicholas (Erin) Cookson and Brandon (Sara) Cookson, all of Cedar Rapids; five nieces and nephews; one great-nephew; and several other relatives. He was preceded in death his grandparents, Glen and Helen Cookson and Robert Story.
