Ada was born on September 2, 1916, in Hickory Grove Township near Newburg, Iowa to Joseph and Lizzie Hays Smith. She was raised on the family farm, attended rural school and graduated from Newburg High School. She also attended a beauty school in Des Moines.
On April 21, 1935, she was married to C.O. 'Buss' Eames at the Newburg Church parsonage. The couple farmed in Tama County until 1953 and later farmed near Newburg. She moved to St. Francis Manor in 2004.
She was very artistic and enjoyed china painting, oil painting, Rosemauling and quilting.
Survivors include her two daughters, Josie Roe and Marjorie 'Cookie' Cope, both of Gilman; one son, Thomas Eames of Gilman; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Falk of St. Paul, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son-in-law, James Cope; two brothers, Howard and Charles Smith; and two sisters, Alberta Sullens and Edith Veber.
