Abigail Jean Kriegel, 29, of Grinnell, Iowa, passed away on July 2, 2026, at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell, with a luncheon afterward at the Grinnell Eagles Club.

Abby was born on November 9, 1996, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Staci Leigh Kriegel. She spent her childhood in Malcom, Grinnell, and Searsboro and graduated with the Grinnell High School Class of 2015.

Abby will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, quick wit, and unmistakable sass. She lived life on her own terms and had a way of bringing laughter, adventure, and unforgettable memories to those around her. Her love for children was evident in everything she did. She was a cherished aunt to many and lovingly filled the role of a second mother to Jason, whom she adored.

Abby had a special place in her heart for animals, especially raccoons and her beloved dog, Diesel. She enjoyed attending county and state fairs, taking road trips, and spending hours cruising Iowa's back roads listening to her favorite music. Purple was her favorite color, lilies her favorite flower, and she found joy in life's simple moments shared with family and friends.

More than anything, Abby treasured the people she loved. Her kindness, sense of humor, and fierce love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Those left to honor her memory include her partner, Marcus McMains; her siblings, Brady (Mazi) Moore, Amanda (Mike) Johnston and their son, Jason, and Ashleigh (Skylar) Shepard; her father, Ronald (Christy) Moore; her uncles, Scott (Tabitha) Kriegel and their children, Blaine and Alyssa(Jakob), and Roy (MaryAnn) Eakins; her aunt, Molly (Jeff) Strait; her step-sisters, Kaylee, Madison, McKinley, and Reagan; her best friend, Jenna Steffen; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Staci Leigh Shepard; her grandparents, Michael and Cindy Kriegel; and her cousin, Mikyla Ehret.

Though her time here was far too short, Abby's love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
