She was raised there until she was in her early teens, when her family, seeking a better life, applied for asylum in West Germany in 1989. They lived in Stadthagen after emigrating to West Germany, where Yvonne earned her Abiturzeugnis at the Ratsgymnasium in 1996. The family eventually settled in Munich. Yvonne served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in South Africa and Botswana from 1997-1998. After her mission she studied Theoretical Linguistics at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, where she met David Neville on July 4, 2000 while he was conducting dissertation research at the university. They were united in marriage on May 17, 2003 in Nauvoo, Illinois at the LDS Temple. By this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Katarina (age 10) and a son, Ian (age 8). Yvonne also earned a BA in Elementary Education at Utah State University in 2007. Yvonne enjoyed being in nature, working in her garden, playing the viola, and practicing photography. Her friends, children, and husband describe her as patient, kind, friendly, loving, and forgiving. Her husband is humbled that she would choose him to be her spouse and honored that he could stand by her side for five years in her fight against breast cancer. Yvonne enjoyed substituting in the Grinnell elementary schools and was looking forward to returning to full-time teaching status. Yvonne is survived by her husband, David Neville of Grinnell; two children, Katarina and Ian Neville of Grinnell; father, Lothar Gläser of Germany; and her brother, Toni (Margit) Gläser of Munich, Germany. She was preceded in death by her mother.
