Sidwell D. Lamb, age 82 of Malcom, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Brooklyn Community Estate in Brooklyn. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday July 28th at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Pastor John Epperson officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Malcom Auditorium. Interment will be held at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Smith Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be designated to the Malcom Volunteer Fire Department and Essence of Life Hospice, mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.smithfh.com. Sidwell Dorr Lamb was born on April 9, 1936 in Grinnell, Iowa to Earl and Ruth Lamb. He was raised on the family farm near Malcom and Montezuma respectively, and graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1953. Sid was united in marriage to Arlene Hodgson on July 24, 1953 at the Montezuma United Methodist Church. They were blessed with three children: Sandra, Steven and Leonard. They raised their family on the family farm near Montezuma and Malcom respectively. Sid worked at Malcom Stone Company, ITWC, and was a longtime employee of Farm Hand in Grinnell. He served on the Malcom Volunteer Fire Department for several years. Sid was a family man and an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Sid and Arlene traveled to all 50 states, and 48 of the 50 states in their camper. His other enjoyments included tinkering in his garage, wintering in Texas, attending his grandchildren's and great grandchildren's ballgames, going to dances, and playing cards. Sid is survived by his wife of 65 years, Arlene Lamb of Malcom; one daughter, Sandra (Ronnie) Greer of Nashville, Tennessee; two sons, Steven (Becky) Lamb of Collinsville, Oklahoma and Leonard (Jackie) Lamb of Holiday Lake near Brooklyn, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and his brother, Darrel (Connie) Lamb of Grinnell. Sid was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Carol Arendt.
