Scott Allen, 48, of Toledo, died on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at University Hospitals in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Oakland Acres Club House. Memorials may be directed to the Scott Allen Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Scott was born on December 12, 1967, in Omaha, Nebraska to James and Bobette Warnell Allen. She was raised in the Tama-Toledo area and attended South Tama High School. He was married to Sheila Snook in Orlando, Florida and to this union was born three daughters, Brittney, Bailey and Kylee. He worked in the food industry in Florida before moving to Toledo. He enrolled in the culinary arts program at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids and worked in food service in Las Vegas. He returned to Toledo to live with his parents after being diagnosed with cancer. Scott enjoyed music, golf, building model cars and NASCAR. He was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Iowa State Cyclones. Survivors include his three daughters, Brittney Allen, Bailey Allen and Kylee Allen, all of Las Vegas, NV; his mother and step father, Bobette and Val Lerma of Toledo; one grandson, Jeremy Allen; and one brother, Dan Hagedorn of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Dennis Hagedorn.
