Sally was born on December 30, 1928, in Akron, Ohio to Orville and Helen Parsons Fullen. She was raised in Akron and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School with the Class of 1947. She received a BA degree in education from the University of Akron. On August 17, 1954, she was married to Robert Brierly in Akron. The couple lived in Des Moines and later moved to Carlisle. She was a homemaker and was also a teacher in the Des Moines and Carlisle school districts. Following their retirement the couple moved to the Rock Creek Lake community near Grinnell and they have resided at the Mayflower Community in Grinnell for the past year. Sally enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States, Europe, Central and South America. Sally was a member of the Grinnell Historical and Literary Society, the Kellogg Garden Club, the Rock Creek Lake Alliance and the United Methodist Church of Grinnell. She is survived by her husband; two sons, David (Jackie) Brierly of Des Moines, Thomas (Maria) Brierly of Orlando, Florida; one daughter, Rebecca (John) Barnes of Alexandria, VA; five grandchildren, and one sister, Shirley (Frank) Jenkins of Kent, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials in Sally's name may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Grinnell.
