Ruth Graff, 57, of Grinnell died June 11, 2007, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 15, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church officiating. Pallbearers will be Pete Goodrich, Adam and Pete Guillaume, Paul Johnson, Mike and Randy Rehling, and Ed Roach. Honorary bearers will be Matthew Rehling and Spencer Wilcox. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Smith Funeral Home and where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ruth Graff Memorial Fund. The daughter of Ray Baird and Mary Lou Van Meter Herbrandt, she was born December 8, 1949, in Grinnell. She was raised in Grinnell and was a 1968 graduate of Grinnell High School. She was married to Kenneth Henry Graff in April of 1968, at the Sheridan Church, north of Malcom. The couple continued to live in Grinnell and then moved to Brooklyn in 1983. They were later divorced and she returned to Grinnell in 1994. Ruth was employed at Grinnell-Newburg School District and with the Girl Scouts Campfire Camp for a few years. In August of 1982, she began working with the dining services at Grinnell College and was employed at the Forum Grill, Quad Dining Hall, and most recently at the Spencer Grill. She was also employed at the Brooklyn I-80 for several years and the last couple of years at Wal-Mart. Ruth was very devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandson, Spencer. He was her passion. She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed attending to the needs of others. She knew the value of hard work and the importance of a loving family. Survivors include her daughter, Laura Wilcox of Grinnell; one grandson, Spencer Wilcox of Grinnell; her fiance, Robert Rehling of Grinnell; one brother, Ronald Herbrandt of Valeria, Iowa; and one sister, Joyce Stier of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Kenneth 'Lonnie' Graff; and one grandson, Kyler Lon Wilcox.
