Memorials: Ray C. Tokle Memorial Fund to benefit the Poweshiek County 4H Fair, the United Methodist Church, Grinnell Regional Hospice, and the American Cancer Society. Ray Carl Tokle was born the son of Carl Martin Tokle and Marie Henrietta Eriksen Tokle on January 25, 1940 in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1958. He honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserves from 1961 ' 1967. Ray was united in marriage to Sandra Louise Peak on September 16, 1961 at the Grinnell Christian Church. To this union four children were born: Rhonda, Brian, Bruce and Raelene. Ray began farming and raising livestock on the land his grandfather and father had farmed. The couple raised their family and made their home on the Tokle family farm southeast of Grinnell. Farming, family and friends were his life. He dearly loved his grandchildren and supported them in their many activities. Now in its fourth generation, the Tokle family farm was named a Century Farm in 2002. He was a conservation farmer through the years. His other enjoyments included attending the Poweshiek County Fair and the Iowa State Fair as well as their trips to Branson, Missouri. Ray is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra Tokle of Grinnell; his children, Rhonda (Bill) Sepic of Waunakee, WI, Brian Tokle of Grinnell, Bruce (Mindy) Tokle of Grinnell, and Raelene (Chad) Lenoch of West Branch, IA; 12 grandchildren; and his sister, Charlotte Romp of Ellsworth, IA. Ray entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 28, 2009, at his home in Grinnell. He was 69 years of age and he was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandchildren, Logan and Ryan Lenoch.
