Randy Pinkerton, age 58, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Randy Pinkerton Memorial Fund and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Randy James Pinkerton was born the son of Gerald James Pinkerton and Donna Faye (Erwin) Pinkerton on July 15, 1959 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Marshalltown and Ft. Dodge, Iowa respectively, and graduated from Ft. Dodge Community High School in 1978. Following his education, he moved to Des Moines and worked for area businesses. In 1994, he met Lisa Ann Lenertz in Grinnell while working at Jeld-Wen. They moved to Marengo and both worked for Williamsburg Manufacturing as a lead hands. Randy and Lisa were united in marriage on October 12, 2000 in Marengo. They later moved to Grinnell and both were employed at Jeld-Wen Windows. He later worked for C&K Transfer in Grinnell and as a courier delivering auto parts. Randy was an outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, fishing and riding motorcycles. He will be remembered as an amazing dad and grandpa, and as a friend to many and a stranger to none. Randy is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lisa Pinkerton of Grinnell; five children, Autumn Alderman of Harvey, Iowa and her children, Jayson, Shantel, and Dakota, Brianna (Mitchell) Ziebol of Ames, Iowa and their children, Ravynn, Amaya, Finnley and Fyona, Ashley Titus of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Corey (Cassy Mueller) Puls of Grinnell, and Dustin (Brittany) Puls of Grinnell and their children, Elaine, Nathan and Aria; his mother, Donna Whannel of Grinnell; and brother, James "Jimmy" Pinkerton of Ft. Dodge. He was preceded in death by his father.
