Ralph was born on August 15, 1939, in Twin Falls, Idaho, the son of Boyd Beddes and Laurabelle Lattin Brown. He was raised in the Twin Falls area where he received his education. He received a B.S. degree in Engineering from the University of Idaho in Moscow.

On September 3, 1960, he was united in marriage with Betty Weedon, in Corralitos, California. The couple farmed near Twin Falls for two years and then moved to Rockford, Illinois where he was employed with Case International. He later moved to Glencoe, Minnesota and was employed with Farmhand, Inc. In 1970, he moved to Grinnell and continued working for Farmhand and then in 1995 to Lee’s Summit, Missouri and was employed with AGCO. Ralph and Betty returned to Grinnell in 2016 where they made their home at Seeland Park.

Ralph was a man of many God-given talents and he strived everyday throughout his life to use those talents to glorify God. His story was a love story. He loved God, family and everybody else along the way. If you ever got a hug from Ralph, you knew you were hugged and loved. He was the best hugger. Ralph and Betty served actively in their church in every city they lived. He was a Jesus follower, engineer, IT manager, carpenter, electrician, photographer, genealogist, farmer, missionary & Sunday school teacher. Ralph & Betty loved going to their kids’ events and there were many. Besides his love for God, Betty and his family, Ralph’s proudest moment was when he became “Papa” to 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He loved them all deeply and they knew it. Ralph & Betty went to every event that they could, following their grandkids, and again there were many. He cherished serving others by building churches and sharing the Gospel of Jesus on mission trips, with Nazarene Missions International, in the jungles of Peru and the Philippines. Ralph loved Christian music, especially The Bill Gaither Vocal Band & The Collingsworth Family. Ralph was one hundred percent committed and convicted in all he did. He will be deeply missed until we all get to reunite with him in Heaven.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Betty of Grinnell, four children; Lori (Randy) Glosser of Grinnell, Kevin (Miriam) Brown of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Kent (Jill) Brown of Grinnell, and Mark (Denise) Brown of Olathe, Kansas, two sisters; June (Mike) Matteson of Cotopaxi, Colorado and Thelma Jean Maynard of Durham, North Carolina, one brother, David (Judy) Brown of Twin Falls, Idaho, 13 grandchildren (listed above) and 13 great-grandchildren; Libby, Isaiah, Lexie, Tori, Elijah, Easton, Logan, Asher, Wyatt, Laurabelle, Avery, Lydia & James Daniel. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Ellis and Velma “Dolly” Weedon, and his brother-in-law, Donald Weedon.
